HARRIS SHOWS HIS CLASS
Many will remember Neil's incredible performance in 2009 which ended without reward as Ross took the title from his grasp under great pressure from Lacey.
However it turned out that he only had to wait a year to receive his reward, celebrating his second title here at the home of the Langley Open in front record breaking galleries.
However all did not go to plan on day one, with Marsden playing sublime golf scoring a superb 42 points, he was just untouchable whilst it was a day to forget for Ross who appeared to be hit by the Champions curse, this grand trophy has yet to be successfully defended. Lacey as ever was just behind Marsden leading the way to a fascinating second day.
The weather was kind as the golfers appeared on the first tee of the links course. That however was as good as it got for Marsden though as he had a miserable day, blowing up with only 26 points. Meanwhile Harris was on a charge playing possibly the best golf ever witnessed in the Langley Open to secure 42 points, a truly incredible title winning effort
Lacey however had other things on his mind, and what could and should have been a walk in the park for Harris proved to end in quite a spectacle for the enthusiastic crowd. Lacey was chipping back on Harris score and yet again this great tournament was taken to the last hole.
Lacey knew he needed a birdie at the most to have any chance to steal the cup from Harris as he was trailing by 2 shots, and with nothing to lose believing an eagle was realistically needed to win he played for the green on his second shot. It was a great effort but the ball over shot the green. Meanwhile Harris was struggling and recorded a shock bogie. Disaster however for Lacey who could only par the hole. A relieved Harris was the new Champion!
